Planning a room around a zebra rug

One of the best ways to plan a room is to choose an inspiration piece you love and build your furniture plan around it.  I put together a living room mood board based on a zebra rug from the terrific Charley Harper collection currently in the Land of Nod. (Why should children be the only ones to enjoy it?!). The rug nods to the ubiquitous IKEA graphic black and white striped rug, but looks loads fresher.

What would I do with it?   The rug’s not shrinking violet.  It can stand up to bright, poppy colors remarkably well–hence the turquoise couch and bright pink midcentury chairs.  Even the coffee has a peek of turquoise on the interior. This is the sort of room that would make me smile every time I entered.
